The Southern California Maternal Fetal Care Centers (a.k.a. Perinatal Centers) provides specialized Maternal-Fetal Medicine services in including high resolution Obstetrical/Fetal Ultrasonography (real-time 3D/4D and standard) as well as consultation and co-management services to the local community of obstetrical patients and their obstetrical providers. Currently, we have four outpatient Perinatal Center locations in Orange and Los Angeles counties. Our Perinatal Centers are located in Garden Grove, Anaheim, Santa Ana and Whittier. The comprehensive outpatient services provided at the Perinatal Centers are an important resource in helping you and your obstetrical provider ensure optimal outcome for your pregnancy. We coordinate your care with your provider and hospitals for integration of Obstetrical and when need Neonatal care. We are contracted with all medical plans and most IPA’s as well as Medi-CAL and CalOptima.
Our mission is to provide direct, personalized access to high level specialized prenatal services for patient who have pre-existing medical conditions or other problems that complicate or jeopardize your pregnancy.

Maternal-Fetal Medicine (a.k.a. Perinatology) is a subspecialty of obstetrics and gynecology that requires several years of additional training beyond a traditional OB/GYN education. Perinatology is focused on diagnosis and management of pregnancies complicated by wide variety of common medical and genetic conditions occurring in pregnant patients and/or their unborn child. Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists often work in collaboration with obstetricians, nurse practitioners or midwifes to help them care pregnancies affected by complications.
The team at Southern California Maternal Fetal Care Center consists of maternal-fetal medicine specialists, obstetrical ultra-sonographers, obstetrical nurses, and assistants who have more than 125 years of experience in the field, including faculty practice and teaching in Maternal Fetal Medicine at academic medical centers.
You and your pregnancy is our only focus. From simple to complex issues, helping to ensure optimal pregnancy outcomes in a warm, personal, and caring environment is our passion.
In any pregnancy having all the services you may need available to you and managed in a comprehensive manner by a dedicated team is always the best approach. Unfortunately, for many patients this may not be the case. Patients are referred to physicians or radiologist without specific training in high risk obstetrics and fetal care. This can lead to increased uncertainty, concern and anxiety.
We are so happy we went to the Perinatal Center. Our pregnancy was going well but then my OB said, “you may have a problem”. We were very scared. We went to see Dr Kovacs. They did an ultrasound, and the doctor explained what the problem might be and then helped us all along the way. We had a healthy baby. Dr Kovacs and his staff were great.
